A new version of FFXI Query is now available: v2.9.3. This version is mainly to squash new and outstanding bugs - nothing major unfortunately. As always, be sure to update if you want to use the online services.

Though it's been over a year since the last release, I've fixed all major issues and bumped up the version to 2.9.2. Though the changelog is minor, updates will come at a much quicker pace next time updates break something - think days, years.

A small milestone has been reached. v2.9.1, freshly released, now uses Aikar's SigScan library, meaning that next time the memory locations change, the program should still work... hopefully. Only time will tell.

Get it while it's hot: v2.9.0 is now available for download. Changes in the changelog.

I'm pleased to immediate release of FFXI Query v2.8.4 a little over 24 hours after the latest FFXI update - a great time compared to the previous two releases. Expect them to be even quicker next time.

Once again, please forgive me for the wait. Still in the same situation as last time: no readily available account to debug with. Oh well. FFXI Query v2.8.3 is out with the great help of Lynxo. Another basic bug fix release.

Update: Continuing with my tradition of messing up, if you downloaded 2.8.3 before 2PM CST on 9/22/08, please redownload the program unless you want it to crash constantly.

Sorry about the wait everyone, but its hard to fix the program when I don't have access to an FFXI account. Anyway, all is well now, so here is FFXI Query v2.8.2 with the great help of D'h'arKhon. Basic bug fix release, no bells and whistles.

Update: If you downloaded the latest version before 8PM CST, please redownload it. I included the wrong version of the exe.

FFXI Query v2.8.0 has just been released. Nothing extraordinary, mostly fixes to work with the latest FFXI update, though there some small other changes. Sorry about the delay once again.

3/19/08 Update: 2.8.1 is out and working after the 3/17 patch.

There has been quite some demand for deleting characters; because of that, I've decided to roll out a quick site update allowing just that. To delete your character, go to your profile page and click edit on the character you want to delete. Near the bottom will be further instructions to complete the deletion.

It's that time of year again!

Happy New Year to everyone from the FFXI Query team!

Without further ado, I'm proud to present FFXI Query v2.7.10, the long awaited version that pretty much only restores functionality after the Wings of the Goddess update. Head over to the download page to grab your copy.
Sorry it took so long, but as I mentioned in the previous post, there have been some issues. Now that they are resolved, expect big changes. More to come soon.

With every project that pops up, bad news eventually comes. And for FFXI Query, the bad news goes something like this:

Over the past several weeks, I've been playing less and less FFXI mainly due to school, work, and various other reasons. And because of that, development has slowed, and as you've no doubt noticed by now, seems to have stopped (especially with the latest FFXI update). Basically, to cut a long story short, I don't have any active accounts from which to update the program, nor do I have access to the source code as my HDD or IDE controller has gone kaput. With that said, I hate to say it, but there won't be an update for at least a week, hopefully less if I can get my data recovered and a friend's account to debug the program.

Not all hope is lost though, because with most bad news comes good news! What could the good news possibly be? Well, lets just say I've been working with others to continue this project and join forces with a well known dev team. I can't say too much right now as the details are sketchy, but I promise things will get better from here. Expect more frequent updates, more features, better customizability, and more. But for now, development is on hold until I can recover the data.

Don't think FFXI Query is dead; it's far from it. Stay tuned for more info in the upcoming days.

A new version of FFXI Query has been released, bringing the version number to 2.7.9. This release is aimed to fix the problems that the latest FFXI update incurred.

I'd also like to take a moment and thank Xtek from the now defunct VanaGuide with the very early development of FFXI Query. Without him, I'd have nothing, no program, no website, and no fun. Thank you, Xtek!

With all the recent changes to the site, I thought it would be appropriate to update the client too. Therefore, I'm proud to present FFXI Query v2.7.8, which fixes several bugs and adds more events logged in the event viewer.

However, whenever there is good news then there is probably news too. Unfortunately, this version of FFXI Query was supposed to add an auto-update feature so you don't have to download the zip each time a new version is released. Due to a small VS2005 bug, the way I chose to write the auto-update feature doesn't work. So, for all of you eager to try the auto-updating feature, I'm sorry, but you'll have to wait a little longer.

Thanks to the help of DrDre, a finely customizable signature section has been added to the site. I don't want to give too much away, so check it out if you haven't yet!

Also, a new version of the program will be available very soon, along with the completion of the signature aspect of the website.

With the release of FFXI Query v2.7.7, not only are there some minor bug fixes that I was dumb enough to leave in the previous versions, I even went ahead and updated the download page which, conveniently, has a link to the latest release and the changelog.

Update: Seems that Firefox is having some troubles displaying the downloads page. Our technical staff is working on the problem as I write this.

I have just updated the program to include some minor but hopefully useful features that several people have asked for. FFXI Query v2.7.6 is the new version can be downloaded from the download page. The complete list of changes is available on the download page as well.

Same as last time.. FFXI Query v2.7.5 has been released and can be downloaded from the download page. This was mainly to fix memory location issues for the FFXI patch on the 5th.
Wednesday, March 18, 2007
Another small heads up if the program isn't working; FFXI Query v2.7.4 has been released and can be downloaded from the download page. This was mainly to fix memloc issues for the latest FFXI patch.

Just a little heads up, FFXI Query v2.7.3 has been released and can be downloaded from the download page. Main changes unique to this version include:
  • » Addition of the avatar (which currently can only show the character's face)
  • » Protocol changes to display errors more easily
  • » Data validation to help stop data manipulation (the account named "loudnpun" is a prime example)

As always, be cautious with software you download from the internet. Scan it for viruses, be sure you download it from the official website, etc. We care very much about the safety of personal information (not like much is shared between the client and the servers, anyway).

Welcome to FFXI Query, a FFXI online character database of users throughout the world.

The main goal of this project is to bring live, up-to-date statistics of the characters in FFXI. As the project is in its early stages, many features are not available, but with the help from players, FFXI Query will expand, revealing many details of how FFXI is played, including player trends, population distribution and growth, and much more.

Some of the current features include:
In the following weeks, we would like to expand the features list to include but not be limited to:
  • » Advanced population statistics
  • » Player search capabilities (Done)
  • » Editable character profiles
  • » Customizable signatures
  • » Greater scope of data available

You can help the project grow to its fullest potential by downloading FFXI Query, registering an account, and by submitting the data (luckily, this is done automatically).

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact us!
